Passion fruit, also known as passion fruit , is a tropical fruit with an oval or round shape, with a size ranging from 5 to 7 cm in diameter. The outer skin is wrinkled, yellow or dark purple in color and has a series of bumps. The pulp inside is juicy, with a sour and sweet flavor at the same time, and contains numerous edible seeds. Passion fruit is native to South America, but is now grown in many tropical and subtropical regions around the world.

Passion fruit is rich in vitamins A and C , antioxidants and minerals such as iron and calcium. It is also a good source of fiber and folic acid. The pulp and seeds are used for the preparation of juices, jams, ice creams, desserts and alcoholic drinks. Passion fruit can also be used as a condiment for salads, meat, fish and rice or pasta dishes.

Note that passion fruit pulp is only edible when fully ripe, because if it is unripe it can cause digestion problems.
